Today at 6:00 pm a little piece of my heart broke off. I dropped my son off at his first over-night party. I know he will be fine, but I wonder about me. He got out of the car and took off with his friend and didn't look back. I chatted with the birthday boy's mom for a few minutes and then said, "Bye Tyler, I'm leaving." He looked up at me, smiled, and waved Bye. That little piece of my heart crumbled into a million pieces. No hug, no kiss, nothing. I know this is the way it is supposed to be, he is growning up, and that is good. But I cannot wait until 10:00 in the morning to go pick him up.
Heavy sigh.
Other than my minor heart issue the rest of the day went well. I was able to freeze 7 quarts of tomatoes, do some minor housework and I even got to take a nap! If I am not tutoring in the afternoon I usually sit down in the recliner and read/rest for a few minutes after I put James down for his nap. I am more of a morning person and by 1:00 I am already getting pretty tired. Today all the other kids were quiet with the computer and watching TV and a I fell asleep. I woke up feeling much better. Then I picked peas and shelled them. I hope we can have peas and rice tomorrow or Sunday. I took Tyler to the party, came home, dropped the other kids off with Daddy, and went to buy groceries. Fortunely, I did not have a lot to buy because I was really tired by then. I just got through mopping and after this post I am headed to bed. Tomorrow is salsa making day and it will be busy!

Wendy...seriously. Tomatoes, peas, salsa...you are my hero. I had no idea you did all this. I am so glad you started this blog so I could appreciate you more!!!!!!!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteLoved your Mommy-Files!
And this quote: "I really did not want to clean today. I wanted to eat brownies and read the new library book I had gotten. But, I tried to psych myself up and tell myself what a privledge it is to be a keeper at home whether I feel like it or not. Because it is."
You and I are alike, my friend. I mean no, I don't grow food, but you and I share a heart that loves being keepers of our home and Laura Ingalls Wilder! Bet you thought I didn't see that quote, did ya? ;) Your blog is lookin' good!
Love the bird LuLu. That is amazing. And I love the rain pics of your sweet kiddos!
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE your blog?
Are you doing CBS?
