~How come bags of shredded cheese are so hard to open? Really-we put people on the moon and we can't figure an easier way?
~How come water doesn't taste as good as Pepsi?
~How come everytime I need the can opener I can't find it, but if I don't need it it is always there?
~How come my children have an aversion to pushing the trash down in the can, or heaven forbid, just taking it out when it gets to the top?
~How come all the pans "need to soak" and are left for me in the morning?
These are just a couple of mysteries I have been trying to figure out here lately.
Anyone have any answers?

The Mommy-Files #259
For those of you who may be new to The Mommy-Files: here I list all the Mommy-questions that have perplexed me over the years. Much like the the X-files, these questions only lead to more questions about what it means to be a mommy and all that it entails. If you have any information that can help this Mommy find the answers please let me know!
1. Why, oh why, do I keep finding clean out of season clothes in my dirty laundry hampers?
I have talked to my own children in length about this, and I just cannot imagine that they would not pay attention to and/or deliberately disobey me... Do you think someone is coming in while we are gone and doing this? Could someone be messing with my mind?
2. I may have already asked this one, but I still don't have an answer. Why are there 9 toothbrushes on my sink, but only 6 people live in my house?
Where do all the toothbrushes come from? And if I have that many toothbrushes in my house why do we have to go to the dentist so much?
3. Does everyone else out there have an invisible child called, "I Don't Know?"
"I Don't Know" is very busy at my house. He/She does all kinds of things which make me shake my head in confusion. But every time I ask one of my VISIBLE children they reply, "I Don't Know." Could "I Don't Know" be the one drinking all the milk all the time? It is impossible for me to keep milk in this house and it must be him/her. My visible children wouldn't drink that much milk in one day, would they?
Can anyone out there help me? Do you have your own Mommy-File questions that need answers? Let's help each other ladies...being an agent on the Mommy-Files is risky work.

It's A Mystery...
Hmmmmm, my big purple statement-making sunglasses have gone missing...
I am not accusing anyone.
Yet.
There are four people in this house who do not like those glasses. I know James is not the culprit. He says he likes them. And he thinks they are funny. But in a good way, I'm sure. It doesn't matter that he is four and has no concept of what looks good and what doesn't.

Things That Make This Mom Go Hmmmmm....
Hmmmm....
I have noticed a startling condition at my house. I'm perplexed by what is going on. I will present the symptoms to you and maybe you can make a mommy diagnosis.
When I tell the children it is time to do their cleaning zones, one or more of these things happen:
~someone suddenly gets a headache
~someone suddenly needs to go check on the outside animals
~someone suddenly needs to go to the bathroom (and they are gone for a verrrry long time) ~someone suddenly needs something out of the van
~someone suddenly can't remember what their zone is and what they are supposed to do in that zone
~someone suddenly becomes very exhausted and feels that they can't get up off the couch, even though they just woke up from a long night's sleep
~someone suddenly becomes very loving and cuddly and just wants to sit and cuddle instead of picking up their toys and putting them back into the toy box
Do you ever have any of these symptoms at your house? And if you do, can you send me a diagnosis and a possible cure?

1. How is it that I am the first one up on Sunday morning, but always the last one to get dressed? (By the way, I remember one time when I was little and my mom was running late on Sunday morning. We were in our Sunday best sitting out in the car waiting on her. One of us (and I'm sure it was not me) decided to start blowing the horn so that she would hurry up and come to the car. Oh, she came to the car alright. And I'm pretty sure we didn't do that again.)
2. How come I found a harmonica in the fridge this morning?
3. How come I found clothes I just washed yesterday in the hamper today? And they had not been worn? I just can't imagine how that could have happened.

More Mommy-Files
Today I did three loads of laundry.
Out of those loads I pulled 41 socks to match.
I ended up with 8 pair (16 socks) that matched.
That leaves 25 lone socks to put into my sock basket. (When the sock basket is overflowing, I dump them all out and match as many as I can. There are always some left.)
And that is just today.
Is it no wonder I think everyone should just wear flip-flops?

If any of you have any of the answers to these questions, please let me know.
1. Why are there 9 toothbrushes in our bathroom when there are only 6 people in our house?
2. Why is it so much more difficult to put the new toilet paper roll ON the toilet paper holder instead of just propping it up on the old empty roll?
3. Why would you just go and get another trash bag and put it beside the trash can, instead of emptying the trash can in the first place?
4. Why do you open the fridge 137 times a day in the hopes that your favorite snack foods are going to magically appear in there?
5. Why a certain young lady in my house can NOT keep her dresser drawers closed? Do they pop right back out~~because she is saying she is closing them? Are they possessed? Do I have "special drawers" in my house?
I'm just a curious mom who wants to know.

More Mommy-Files
How come it is either Feast or Famine around here with:
1 ~ shoes
2 ~ coats
3 ~ socks
4 ~ sippy cups ?
Right now I have 5 sippy cups and all their tops in a cabinet. Yesterday when leaving for church I had a one sippy cup and one top. Neither matched each other.

The Mommy-Files
Mark and I like to watch the X-Files. Due to the lack of a babysitter we have not seen the new movie yet, but we can't wait. We watched it from the very beginning, but I have not seen any of the reruns in years because we don't have cable now. Of course, whenever you watch an episode you leave with more questions than answers. As I was cleaning and coming across things today I thought of some of my own questions that I still don't have the answers to. And I've been a Mommy for 10 years now!
Like,
1. Why will my children go and get a new roll of toilet paper, but not put it on the roll-holder? They just set it on top.
2. Why do children's shoes always disapper into thin air on Sunday morning, but on Monday afternoon I can find an assortment of shoes scattered on the living room floor?
3. How come James always waits until I put a dry diaper on him and then poo-poos? Why can't he just go in the wet diaper? Why does it have to be a clean dry one?
4. How come babies always start running a fever and pulling at their ears at 4:15 pm when the doctor's office closes at 4:30 pm?
These are just a few of the things I wondered about today. If you have any answers please let me know.
