Oh, the Domesticity! (Shout Out to Jayme!)

So far this morning has been a big cleaning morning (which means tomorrow I will be complaining about a sinus headache, just a heads up), and we have been busy. It feels good to get so much done!
We had a good weekend, busy, but good. I had made a deal with Matt that if he would keep his room clean for a month, he could get hamster. He did well with the deal so Sunday after church we went to the pet store and he picked out Whiskers. It is not as bad as I thought it would be.

Grandaddy gave Tyler a special gift this weekend. He passed on one of his guns to Tyler.

And yes, that is a stuffed squirrel in the background. I dislike it greatly there, that's all I will say about it now. But, remind me to tell ya'll the store of the day the stuffed squirrel scared the living daylights out of me.

I started potty-training James this morning. So far so good. One success and one accident. He looks so cute in those little Buzz Lightyear underwear. When I put him down for his nap he did not want to put on a pull-up so I told him he could wear his underwear over his pull-up. He was good with that and he waddled off to bed with big bulky underwear.

Nothing else exciting to report. I did accidently burn a baked potato up in the microwave and let me tell you it stinks to high heaven. I just had to throw the plate away, it was scorched so bad. The whole house is stinky and when you open the microwave it will about knock you over. Yep, things are really happening around here.

  1. What a shame about the microwave stinking. Congrats to your son on the potty training. I remember when my son loved his Buzz Lightyear anything. And a squirrel on the wall is another story. I don't think I could handle that, must be love, huh? Enjoy your day!

  2. Oooh! Did your potato catch fire like mine did?

  3. No, it did not catch fire, but it was smoking and oh my goodness, who would have imagined a potato would stink so much?

Speaking of potatoes, did you make Pioneer Woman's potatoes?

  4. There's no worse smell than burning something in the microwave...it seems to permeate the entire house!
Glad the potty training is going well!

  5. Stuffed squirrels, guns and hamsters. LOL Sounds like the name of a heavy metal band.

Hamsters are too cute. I could use that stuffed squirrel in my camper. If you need a home for it....you know...that's all I'm sayin'.

  6. Stuffed squirrels and grandpas passing guns down to grandsons. Oh, you can tell you live in Alabama and not--Oregon, for example. I love it!

  7. I really don't even know how to comment on a stuffed squirrel on the wall! I do want to thank you - sincerely - for your recent visits to my blog...and all your kind comments and prayers! God has used each of them to comfort my heart! Thank you, friend!

PS - and now I'll pray for you and potty training! I detested that phase...just me but it was never smooth for me!!

  8. Oh, potty training... I'm dreading that... I've heard it's a lot harder with boys and am not even sure when to start with Tad... Good Luck, and please pass along any hints and tips my way!
