Mark had the day off today so he got started on picking our corn. And if you pick the corn you have to shuck it.
Abbie helped for awhile and then Mark came to the rescue. Once he was in the kitchen to cream the corn things went much quicker-but it still took 4 1/2 hours. I'm glad I don't have to do that for at least another week :).We had some fresh for supper and man was it good!
Yummy! I remember "puttin' up corn" days with Mother and Daddy.
ReplyDeleteBTW, James sure has grown! ;0) LOL!
Oh, won't that be fun to have during the winter months! We put up a lot last year and still have a little on hand. It is the best!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful 4th!
Blessings, Linda
I wish I had somewhere to have a garden. The corn looks really yummy. I hope that you are having a great summer.
ReplyDeleteJames sure did look like Matt. Good looking corn.
ReplyDeleteOh Wendy, you know you've shucked too much corn when you don't even know your own kids names! He he he...
ReplyDeleteThat corn sure did look good. I'm just sayin'. Not that I want any or anything...
Sorry Mama. Will go fix it now :)
ReplyDeleteDon't shcuk it all! You can freeze it with the inner husks on and then thaw it when you're ready and steam it in the microwave. It's great.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so jealous of your garden and the amount that you get from it. I know. So inappropriate to be coveting your produce, but i cannot help it!! I picked all my peas yesterday and literally had one handful. *sigh* It looks like you all had sooooo much fun!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very productive garden this summer, and you will surely enjoy all that frozen corn this winter!
