I love living in Sweet Home Alabama! Love it! I don't want to live anywhere else (well, except for in July and August, and then I wouldn't mind a cooler place). I like to go and visit other places, but I'm always glad to get back to home sweet home.
Southern culture is a rich combination of past and present. Some accuse us of living in the past, but I think in most cases we have pulled what is best from the past and continue to live it in the present. Why change a good thing?
There are all kinds of Southern Women too. And I think deep down we are all a combination of them all. Have you ever seen the movie Steel Magnolias? The movie takes the lives of five very different Southern women and exaggerates them for theatrical purposes. But there is an element of truth to all that is portrayed. Faith, family, and friends. They are important to us and it shows in the way we live.
So, to celebrate the fact that we Southern Gals have almost made it through this horrendous hot summer I am having a little giveaway.
Included are:
~a Piggly Wiggly dark pink t-shirt in size XL. If you are one of those super-tiny little people you will just have to use it to sleep in. But, it is super-cute-even for sleeping! What is Piggly-Wiggly you say? It is a southern grocery chain and I have no idea why it is named that. But, you can tell you are in small town if there is a Pig there. (That's what we locals call it. We say, "I'm running down to The Pig to pick up some milk.") I know, it sounds strange, but it is what it is.
~ two nail polishes to transition you into fall. A true Southern gal is going to be well-polished at all times. Enough said.
~a set of super-cute thank you notes. Because a true Southern girl always writes thank you notes. And if they don't, all the other girls will say, "Bless her heart, she must be soooo busy. I still haven't received her thank you note from her wedding two years ago." whenever her name is mentioned. Not really. But we might be thinking it. It would be tacky to say it out loud though.
~one small bottle of pineapple-coconut shower gel. We love perfumes here in the south and if we are going to be working hard, as Southern Women do, we want to look and smell good while we are doing it.
~a copy of the the latest Southern Living magazine. It has a whole section on The Soul Of The South and you can read about why we are the way we are. A Southern Gal is well-read and Southern Living magazine is a must.
~a lastly, a pint jar of my homemade muscadine jelly. A Southern Gal knows how to fed her family well. Homemade jelly is just one way. It really is soooo much better than store-bought and it is fun to make. In case you don't know what a muscadine is-it is a large grape that grows on vines. It has a much harder peel and has seeds. It is so sweet and yummy and makes perfect jelly. We grow the muscadines here at my house and they went from vine to jar all in the same day. I think you will like it. Cook some biscuits, pile on the butter and jelly, and sink your teeth into the yumminess.
I hope you will enter-whether you live in the South or not. Its a good place to be and I would love to share some of it with you.
Open to US residents only. Giveaway ends August 27th at 6:00 pm. I will contact the winner so please leave an email if you don't have a blog.

What a fun giveaway! We have a pig nearby and even though there is a new publix close by as well, hubby still prefers the pig. We also have a nice assortment of pig shirts. ;-) Most of the time we call it "piggely wiggely" because that is what our daughter called it when we first moved here from Germany.
