Rambling Along....

I really like Tuesday mornings. There isn't the hustle and bustle of Monday mornings and we start getting back into our flexible-never know what to expect-routine that I so fondly refer to our as the Clark Chaos Routine. When I realized it was more important for my family to have a routine, than a schedule, life changed for me. You just can't (or I couldn't anyway) make a baby sleep exactly from 1 pm to 3 pm because that is what is says on the schedule. BUT, I could realize that babies generally expect the same things everyday and after lunch comes, cuddles and reading, and then rocking and singing, and then they are laid down and they will drift off to sleep. It doesn't matter if lunch happens at 11:30 or noon. Babies and toddlers don't care about clocks, they care about their routines. When I finally started realizing that, my life became much less stressed. Although, don't worry, I still find many many other things to get stressed about. As a matter of fact, I am not sure my body would function if I didn't have something to fret over.

Today is Art Class and Violin class. We don't have Bible Study on Thursday as it is Veteran's Day so we moved Violin to today. And I get to picnic lunch with Rebekah. It seems like I haven't seen her in forever.

And then we will back home again for four days straight! I don't HAVE to go anywhere for four days! Which is good cause I've got some catching up to do on my Homemaking for the Holidays Challenge. People are much more important than clean-up challenges and a whole bunch of real life happened this weekend. So I plan to get back on track this afternoon and get caught up this week.

Thursday my tiny teeny newborn James is turning four. I waver between looking forward to the next year with him and wanting to cry. I'm not sure how I will be Thursday morning at 5:50 AM when I think back four years ago to the moment he was born.

My baby is turning four. And I turn 38 next month. And time is going by so fast. But oh, the times, they are good.

Someone said once, "These are the never-enough years. Never enough time, never-enough money... "

And boy, it sure seems that way sometimes. But here at this house, because of Mark and his love, protection and guidance, and because of my sweet kiddos who bring me joy I will never be able to describe, there is always enough laughter and love here.

  3. This is a great post. You are so right about routine vs schedule. I only wish I would have figured it out when my own children were young- Thankfully I get a second chance with our little Tues. visitor. Our middle daughter shares a bday with your James, she'll be 12! 12, I can't believe it! Next week is my bday, I'm 10 years older than you.

  4. Happy birthday to James! I hope you all have a wonderful day! My Princess Buttercup shares his same birthday--which also happens to have been my grandmother's birthday as well as our wedding anniversary. And, as you know it is Veteran's Day, which means that his birthday will always fall on a holiday. A great time to be born! :)
