We Went, We Saw, We Laughed...

I wish I knew how to do a good recap of our trip. Cause ya'll, I had a good time. Coming home we went through 7 states in 13 1/2 hours, so we were tired to say the least, but it was all worth it. First of all, I need to say thank you to my sissy Jill. She drove all the way home. With very few breaks. And she didn't whine and complain. See, I could have driven home, but I would have whined and complained about it. She was my roommate for the trip too. Its been quite awhile since we have slept in a room together. And now we are all grown up and we didn't fuss with each other! :)

Oh, my goodness, I had no idea VA, West VA, and PA were so beautiful. We went through a lot of rolling farmland and it was so pretty. The drive was really a nice part of the trip.

I wish there was some way I could let you in on all we did but it would take forever. Here are a few pics.

(Jill, my sweet momma Nedra, me, my great-Aunt Affie, Nancy-Renee's mom (aka, the sweetest lady ever), and my Aunt Renee)
We went to the Sight and Sound Theater and saw the musical Joseph. This had nothing to do with the Amish, but if you are ever even close to Lancaster Co. you need to do this.

This will be the first and last time you will ever see Renee milking a cow, real or pretend.
I had no idea also that the houses and barns would be so big either.

All of us that went on the trip like to read Amish fiction so we were super-excited when my mom found out that Wanda Brunstetter was going to be doing a book-signing in Bird-In-Hand. You know we were there and it was nice to get to meet her and her husband.

Seeing all the sweet children made me miss mine even more.

By Tuesday I was ready to get home and see Mark and the children. Mark held down the fort big-time and made it easy for me to leave. He took care of everything while I was gone. Special shout-out thanks to Mrs. Jennifer also. She kept James and Abbie on Tuesday and it seems they had one of "their best days ever" in the words of Abbie.

Also, Jennifer, my children are now ruined for my pearsauce. Abbie said yours is much better, with much more cinnamon. And whats up with the french toast? Matt was requesting french toast like yours this morning. And evidently James is now convinced honey on a spoon doesn't count for real sugar because it is "healthy" sugar. Hmmm...

So, to try and sum it all up...if you get a chance to go to Amish country-go. Loved it!

  2. I live about 2 hours from Lancaster and we LOVE going there!!! And I love reading Amish books as well and Wanda was at our local Christian bookstore recently and I wanted so badly to go see her but football called and I had to settle for just purchasing her book with her signature. Glad you had a nice trip!

  6. Funny--I never heard of Wanda B until this week while investigating wholesome reading options for little girls. When I saw the pic, before reading the caption, I knew who it was.
When I was young my family went to Amish country every few weekson business---loved it!
