The cherry pie has been baked.
The gift has been purchased.
When he wakes up he will be 13.
And I will wonder again,
"How did this happen? How did this fat chubby adorable sweet baby become this young man in whom I am so proud?" How did God know just what our family needed in Matthew? How can one child be such a joy?"
Oh, he's not perfect. He's stubborn and is definitely my most head-strong child.
But he's also my most tender-hearted.
And though he is not a huggy, touchie-feely person when I do get those hugs they mean something.
And he's mine. I tell my kids all the time that if I could line up all the children in the world and pick one I would have picked them.
Happy Birthday to my Matthew!
