Okay, I was not too excited about Abbie's AHG Christmas party and parade. I had been on a mommy rant yesterday morning about the utter state of chaos in our house and we did not get anything done worthwhile with school and it is freezing cold here and too wet and muddy for the kids to be sent outside and James is learning to whine etc.... All I wanted to do was stay in my pjs and fix apple cider and climb in the bed and read and sleep for the rest of the day. I really like run on sentences, don't I? Anway, I had to wake the baby up from his nap, go to the store and buy 3 dozen candy canes, meet Mark to drop the boys off (who went out of his way to get the boys so Abbie and I could have the night alone), and drive to a small town here that is 40 minutes away from our house. Abbie was excited, but I was not. I tried to fake it the best I could though. Good news though, I only got lost once. And it was not bad lost. Yeah!
Anyway, once we got there it was wonderful. Very festive and fun for the moms and the girls. I wish I had thought to take the camera, but I was happy to remember the candy canes at the last minute! Abbie got to spend lots of time with her friends and I got to do some Mommy-talking. Then we marched in the town's Christmas parade. Now, it was cold mind you, but it was so much fun. The girls loved it. Abbie was a little disappointed because she thought she would be on a float and she would get to throw the candy canes to people as opposed to walking and handing them out. But, she got on board quickly. Mainly because I told her if she didn't quit the whining we were packing up and heading home. It was sea of pink and purple coats and Santa hats and red-nosed little girls. Except for my Abbie who chose to wear her camo coat. But she did have her purple gloves on though! And she was precious!
Today, my mom is taking all FOUR of my children to spend the night with her and Pawpaw. Oh, momma I love you so much!!!!!! People, take everything good you can think about a mother, squish it up, and there will be my momma. They are going to spend the night with her because Mark and I are going to our Lifegroup Christmas party. We will dress up and everything. With presents and good food and laughter like crazy. And no certain time to be home. And to be able to sleep late and get up and drink coffee and actually read the Sunday paper. Wow, we sound old don't we? But, by Sunday morning we will both be missing the kiddos like crazy and will be looking at the clock and talking about when they will be home. BUT, tonight will be fun. Now I have to go fix my food for the party and decide what to wear and such. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

How fun!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yay! Date nights are awesome and Christmas parties ON date nights are even better! Enjoy! Stay out too late! And go to Starbucks after the party and stay out even later! Oh - and when you finally DO get home, watch a movie with the volume turned up so loud that it would definitely wake children if they were there!
ReplyDeleteHave a blast tonight! Love you tons.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm a dork. I just realized you wrote that yesterday.

You are so lucky to have a mom that will take all 4 of the kids. Neither of our parents will babysit for more than a couple of hours, and that is asking a lot. have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThou shalt not covet, thou shalt not covet....oh, just kidding haha.
ReplyDeleteokay the deal with the nativity was that I decapitated baby Jesus! It was awful! When it happened, we just stood there staring. Schyler looked at me as if that was the "unforgivable sin"! Even though it was a total accident. It was just understood that I should have been more careful with a tiny figurine that probably looks nothing like our precious Saviour actually did. Then I put it on the counter and cut up an orange for us and left the knife sitting there next to the decapitated baby. Which is what Brandon came home and saw.
It was a great Christmas party, wasn't it? My family all had fun, and the baby even seemed to get over his teething fever and it hasn't returned. We could have stayed for the parade after all, I suppose. Sorry I forgot to check your blog on your birthday and forgot to wish you a belated happy birthday the other night. I don't know where my mind is some days.
