Oh, the Irony

Sunday morning as I was checking James into the nursery I heard talk of the stomach bug. It appeared that several of the workers were out because of this bug. After hushed whispers back and forth Mark and I decided to just keep James with us. And Mark stayed home with him Sunday night to protect his little stomach from this creature that had descended upon our church nursery. Well, looky looky, guess who has the stomach bug? James has gone from being sweet little sick, love and lay on momma boy, to demanding whiny toddler in a two hour period.

When he woke up from his nap he demanded two sippy cups to carry. I gave in on that because I know he is sick and it really doesn't matter. Then he wanted an apple. I had no apples. Wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then an orange. Same thing. Then a banana. We had eaten the last bananas earlier in the day. I told Tyler to run up to granny's and ask for a banana. He did and returned with a perfectly good banana. James looked at it, thought for a minute, and then threw it in the trash can.

I'm smiling and being sweet because I know he really is feeling bad, but it might be a forced smile by tomorrow.
