Monday
After supper is when we work in the garden. The garden is out of the sun by then so it is a little bit cooler. But I have to tell you, it is still stinkin hot. I wonder how many times I will say "stinkin hot" on this blog before the summer is over? We only have one hoe, (which will be rectified tomorrow as I am going to the feed store and buying a hoe for each one of my children) , so we were taking turns hoeing and putting newspapers down around the tomato plants and watching James. James gets his own "helper" because of the ants. He is allergic to them and he tends to always find their beds. Anyway, Matt and I were hoeing and talking. He told me something about how Abbie did not say thank you when he did something for her. I told him, "Well Matt, I thank you for doing it, but remember, we are to be working for God, not for man." He looked around and said, "I thought we were working for food." That too Matt, that too.

That is TOO cute! I am doing the newspaper thing too, and I work in the garden early in the morning, or in the evening. I can't stand it when it's stinking hot! LOL....Gosh, it must get awful hot in AL. Here in IN we have our hot days, but not that southern humidity. I'd melt.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Ali and I helped my Mom in the garden this morning. Of course, it was ended earlier than planned due to shortage in large tomato cages and 16 ant bites on Ali's legs to which she was not fond of.
ReplyDeleteMy hat goes off to anyone who can successfully grow anything actually edible!!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that we are related. You are AWESOME! I love it that you and the kids work in the garden.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! Came over from AL Bloggers. I'm in B'ham, not sure if you are too. We are gardening this year too. I think I'll be saying stinkin' hot a lot too! :)
ReplyDeleteYou must be getting quite a workout in the garden! I am up north so it was kind of cool today~we had sweaters on. We have been waiting to get a hot day to go in the sprinklers. Just think how healthy your heart must be from all that exercise you are doing in your garden. God bless, Rose
