(In no particular order)
1. He makes me laugh - at him and at myself.
2. He loves our children with an amazing powerful protective love.
3. He treats me like a lady and makes the kids do the same.
4. He makes or buys me thoughtful gifts that really mean something to me.
5. He works hard all day and then comes home and works extra hard on our little homestead.
6. He is not afraid to do the right thing.
7. He likes to read (like me) and likes quirky TV shows (like me).
8. He takes all of mine and his extended family -the good, the wonderful, the bad, and the just plain ugly- and groups them under "ours."
9. He spends an unbelievable amount of time with our children. His hobbies are only those things the children can do with him.
10. He encourages me to homeschool. He will do whatever it takes to make it work.
11. He loves my beef stew and homemade salsa. And he always tries my "new" recipes.
12. He will stop and get me a Hershey bar on "those days" when I need chocolate in a big way.
13. He calls my group of friends "The Old Ladies Club", but he loves it when we get together. (I think it gives him more material to work with).
14. His eyes (swoon).
15. When it starts raining he opens the back door because he knows I like to hear it.
16. He is like a little boy when he gets a new toy.
17. He is teaching our sons to be the leader and protector of their own homes by the way he leads our family.
18. He is showing Abbie what kind of man to marry without saying a word.
19. He is very protective of the children, but he is not afraid to let them learn the hard way.
20. His forearms (swoon).
21. He leans over in church and tells me I am the prettiest one there.
22. He is always nice to cashiers, waitresses, receptionists, etc... (I notice these kind of things.)
23. He looks really good when he works in the yard (swoon).
24. He tries to make visitors at church feel welcome. (This means a lot to me because I can tend to get shy at church).
25. He is helping me teach 15 second grade girls in Sunday School this summer.
26. He writes Abbie notes in church telling her he loves her.
27. He is teaching our boys to work hard and that it is worth it to work hard.
28. If we were financially able he would adopt 10 more children.
29. He loves big family get-togethers. He is way more hospitable than I am.
30. My heart melts when I see him holding one of our babies.
31. He forgives me over and over and over for the same old things.
32. He actually gets up and plays with the children. Wheras I like to sit in the swing and watch them play.
33. He puts his dirty clothes in the hamper. He didn't used to do this, but he realized it bothered me and he started doing it.
34. He makes things fun. He is not afraid to act silly.
35. He has listened to me whine and complain about the same old things for 15 years and he acts like it is the first time he has heard it.
36. He helped me through a terrible dark time in my life when I had a 3, 1-1/2, and a newborn in the house. He loved me enough to help me get help.
37. He watches silly movies and cartoons with the kids.
38. He is a man of his word.
39. He holds my hand when we are out.
40. When we go on a date he always cleans out his truck first.
41. He knows how to fix stuff- you name it and he can usually fix it.
42. Did I mention how good-looking he is?
This are just some of the reasons I love my Sweet Hubby. I love knowing he is mine and I am his. Happy 42cd Birthday honey!

ReplyDeleteWow!! What an AWESOME tribute, for a moment I thought you were describing my husband!LOL I am so blessed to have read this , one of the reasons I started blogging was to find and meet Christian women who loved God and wanted to serve Him by serving their families and others , and you have not disappointed me, It would be so great if all women gave their husbands the honor and respect that i see here, and it seems it goes both ways.I especially love the one with him stopping and getting you a chocolate fix, my dh does the same.this is such a great post.
