Saturday Happy

Today is a work day here at our house. Mark has been cutting the grass (a huge feat) and he supervised the boy's room cleanup this morning (an even huger feat). The kids have been cleaning the yard and there is still lots more garden work to be done. It will be un-ending until about October so we have a long way to go. We are starting to get some tomatoes so that is good. I have done 7 loads of laundry so far and I think I will have two more to go. I will be all caught up on laundry until we put on our pjs tonight. I wash and dry the laundry and then fold it all and lay it out on my bed. Then the kids put it up at night. I'm not sure why I have so much today (well, except that the boys filled one hamper just with the clothes they found under their bed and behind the dresser). But it will feel good to have it all done. And then tonight will be ironing night. My ironing runneth over. Mark wears dress clothes to work every day so I have lots of ironing. I very rarely iron the boys things, just things like Scout shirts and church shirts, but Abbie has little skirts and dresses that I iron.

I have no idea why I just told you all that except maybe to make you feel better because you don't let your laundry get so behind like I did.

Anyway, I was walking through the kitchen and looked over in the schoolroom at James. He was playing with his Little People farm. He loves it. He lays on his belly and just makes all the animals talk to each other. When he sees someone walks by he says, "Will you play with me?" It gets me everytime and I have to play with him. Today I took his picture and then showed it to him. He liked seeing his horse on the picture and wanted me to take a picture of his cow.

The garden last week. It's already much bigger now. It amazes me every year how quickly it grows.

  1. I would have played with James too if I had been there. Ugghh, I hate to iron.

  2. Just so you know, I did one load already today. AND the second load has been sitting in the washing machine since 8:30 this morning, it's now 4:30. I think I may need to wash them again! Laundry never ends here! Sounds like the perfect day to me!!! Your family is all home with you!!!

  3. Good Afternoon Mama Hen! Just stopping by to say hello. Glad to know that it's work day there, as it is here too. I've been pulling weeds all day, and now I"m getting ready for a little break.

    I like ironing..I know I know....it's probably cause I don't HAVE to do it.

    Have a great weekend!

I think your mom stopped by my blog. So sweet. :-)

  4. Folding clothes and ironing used to be a couple of my chores growing up. I despise ironing, and only buy "no iron required" clothes now. Sheesh.

  5. Ah, ironing. I have to do it once a week, too. I usually shoot for Tuesday (wash day is Monday). It sounds like you are having a very, very productive day - and a good one :) Is it okay if I'm a tiny bit jealous of your garden?

  6. James is so cute~bless his little heart! My young ones love playing with their farm animals and building the barn. I know what you mean about the clothes under the bed! I find clothes under beds and dressers and hope chests! It's amazing how little ones clean up their rooms~you must have got a lot of good excercise yesterday~that is always a plus for me. Do you hang out your clothes to dry. I have older teenage girls so we all go out and hang the clothes on the line early in the morning. It is very relaxing because we all get to talk to eachother and the work gets done pretty fast. Imagine if we still had to go by the creek and use our wash board? I wonder how women did it back then~they must have had some huge arm muscles! I always manage to burn my hand when I iron my girls dresses. I have to say I do not like ironing either especially in hot weather. God bless, Rose
