A Scene From A House Full Of Boys...

Matt came running in from outside Saturday afternoon.

Out of breath he asked me, "Mom, can I use your griddle?"

"Why?" I innocently asked.

"I have a cricket and I want to grill it."

Needless to say, he did not get to grill his cricket.

"You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing. What! Is it nothing to be happy? Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long? Never in his life will he be so busy again." ~Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Emile, 1762

I found this quote and it made me think of my Matt. I love him so...

  2. You weren't going to let him taste his catch? My parents always had a rule - if you kill it, you eat it.

Granted, that didn't usually apply to bugs, but...

I am curious how grilled cricket would turn out... maybe next time.
