Wednesday Afternoon

Taking my lunch break and checking in. It has been crazy busy here in the ole Clark house for the past few days. And I really can't even remember what we have been busy with! I know I went to bed at 8:42 PM last night after struggling to stay awake on the couch for 30 minutes.

Here's what I can remember:

~Matt won "Most Original" for his derby car at the race on Saturday. So so fitting for him. This is his last year to be able to enter the race and I was starting to get teary-eyed and then looked at James and realized in just two years we will be starting it all over again.

~Long Five-Step Division is doing a number on two of my kiddos and therefore doing a number on me. I think that teaching long division should have its own special crown in heaven.

~James is fully recovered (yeah!) and has a new thing where he likes to get up at 5:00 AM and tell me he is afraid of the dark. And that he can't go back to sleep and because when he closes his eyes it is dark. I think this might have something to do with why I am so tired at night.

~I got to go to a new thrift store by myself Saturday and it was delightful. Just delightful.

~I read a blog post about a woman who cleans her bathroom in 53 easy steps. That is not a typo. I almost cried. My bathroom will never be that clean. If I get through step 4 I'm calling it a good day.

~I have been in a cleaning mood today and have actually accomplished quite a bit. Don't worry, it makes up for the days when I don't accomplish anything.

~Sweet Hubby, I am making you a blueberry cobbler for dessert tonight.

~Got to spend the day with Rebekah yesterday. The kiddos had science/civics co-op and then we went to her house. I had not seen her in TWO months because of sickness. I guess with ten kids between us that is to be expected. We already have our February visit lined up and nobody better get sick!

~Matt caught a possum in his trap last night. So I will get to take it off sometime today.

~Melon, the kitty-cat, is having his surgery today so I will get to bring home a drunk cat tonight.

~I have three hampers full of clean laundry to fold so I better get to it.

  1. FIFTY THREE steps?!?

    EASY?!?!?!

Oh my goodness. Someone has an obsessive/compulsive disorder.

And, for the record, why do we have to learn long division? We never use it again...I couldn't do long division if my life depended on it.

  2. Well, call me when you fold those clothes. I have two of my own that need to be folded.

  3. Long division usually causes tears around here, me and them.

  4. Sorry, I'm with Rachel. What is it for??
And I can not for the life of me come up with more than 5 things that need to be cleaned in the bathroom - and that's assuming the bath and shower are separate.

  5. Honestly, I read the whole post and was going to comment more - but I can't get past the 53 steps!! What could you possibly DO to the bathroom??? Really, now.

  6. 53 steps! Eeek! I had the same reaction. Oh, my. I cannot imagine. Simply shaking my head.

    Moving on . . .

We always have laundry needing to be folded around here, too. Always good to read your posts to know we're not alone. ;)

Oh, the possum. We just read in our Apologia book about how they can emit a horrible smell when they "play possum" to make any would-be predators think they've been dead a while. I really don't think I'd want to deal with a possum disposal situation. Have fun with that! ;)
