James was putting on his shoes to head outside and I said,
"James, don't go outside yet. We are about to do our phonics."
He replied with a deep groan and said, "Oh no."
I told him it wouldn't be that bad and today he was going to get to learn a new letter.
I started down the hallway to get the cards and I heard, in a low pitiful voice,
"Abbie, this is turning out to be the worst day of my life."
*** If he thinks phonics are bad, its really going to be tough when we get to long division. Sigh.

Mercy, he is dramatic!
ReplyDeleteMy gracious! You made me laugh! I read several of your posts about paint chips, murderous high school principals, your dentist experience with your kids, and James not wanting to do phonics. I needed a good laugh today, and I'm thankful that you shared those experiences. :) When my kids complain about what a horrible day it is because they have to do school or (gasp!) do work in the house or yard, I just tell them that they obviously don't have to work hard enough and must need more practice! (They really hate it when I say that...)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I hope the painting goes well!
...or sentence diagramming. I'm pretty sure the worst days of my life will start when I have to TEACH that garbage.
