Freezer Friday....

Today I am so thankful for all those freezer meals I prepared in November.  They have come in very handy as this week has been a doozy for me.  I haven't known if I have been coming or going.

I did cook a turkey last night and it turned out beautifully.  I was somewhat surprised to tell you the truth.  We had turkey for supper, will have some made into Turkey Noodle Soup today for lunch, and I was able to put two bags into the freezer for future meals.  It was nice to be able to put something in the freezer for a change-I've been taking a lot out.

Things are humming along with all the painting and flooring and I am ready to get the house back to normal.  Soon, I hope.

School is going well, I'm not sure how, I can only chalk it up to the fact that my big kids can read and follow directions and usually just get the job done.  We did read about the Sineo-Japanese war yesterday and I tell you what, I am about ready to start reading some good history.  I guess it all ties in when we then read about Jesus' first coming and preparing ourselves for the second.  Come quickly Lord Jesus!

James hemmed and hawed about his phonics until I told him we could sit in the swing and do them.  I also threw in that I would read a chapter from his bat book (he's on a bat kick right now).  We also got to look at the inside of the turkey and he thought he was hilarious when I had to take the giblets and such out.  My hand up the turkey was about more than he could bear.  He laughed and laughed.  We examined all the organs that come in that little packet and then he took them out on a paper plate to make bait for a vampire bat.  Because I'm sure one will fly up from Mexico to get our turkey's heart.  See, phonics, zoology, and anatomy-all because of a turkey for supper.  I love homeschooling!

  2. Love this post! I remember my kids laughing at things like that when they were a little younger. That will be a fun memory for a long long time. :)

I hope you can get your house back to normal soon! I remember the year we built our house while trying to homeschool. Wow! Talk about a challenge! We got it done though (the house and school), and I promised myself I'll never do that again!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
