Double Dare

Well, the social worker left about 12:30. I fixed myself a left-over hot dog, put James down for his nap, and took a 1 1/2 hour nap. I laid down and was immediately asleep. So glad that part of the process is over! Now, for the paperwork!

I think it went well and now I am double-daring any of these kids to mess up the house!

Here's a funny.
On Monday my Aunt Affie came and watched the baby so I could get some deep cleaning done in the bathrooms and also go buy groceries. While I was at Wal-Mart she washed some of the dishes that were in the sink. Later that night Abbie came to me with her eyes wide open and said in amazement, "Mom, Aunt Affie washed the dishes WITH HER HANDS!"

Can you tell I heart my dishwasher?

  1. Sooo glad all went well with the social worker. You earned that nap!

I laughed out loud about the dishwasher. I do dishes so seldom that it surprises my kids when I do them! That's a Rooster job!

  2. I am coming in late on your blog... are you adopting?

From an adoptive mom-- I hope it's a smooth and speedy process. :)

  3. That is so funny!

Something similar happened a few years ago with Benjamin watching my mother make mashed potatoes. Our mashed potatoes always came from a box ;0), and he was so amazed that she was actually mashing real potatoes! I know she thought, "These poor children."

(I now use real potatoes, much to my family's grand appreciation. ;-)

  4. Hi Mama Hen,

Thanks for inviting me to stop by! Your blog is just beautiful -- both the words and pictures. I especially like the photo of your "nut tree".

    Blessings,

    Trixie

  5. Why am I always the last to know? I spent a few hours last week reading through your older blogs and came across the adoption story. Now, I realize I live half a world away, but seriously. Force my big brother to e-mail me with news like that. Please note I am taking full responsibility for my side in this inadequate correspondence, but I'm gonna smack Mark on his hairless head when I see him. Affectionately, of course.
Love you - love the kids - love Mark,
    Mollie
