What Have I Done?

Yesterday I started an 8 week "NO SODA CHALLENGE" given by Bethany. Some of you may remember I gave up caffeine (except for my morning cup of coffee) about 6 months ago. Giving it up was pure misery, but I am soooo glad I did. Now, it is time to give up soft drinks for good. No more Sprites, Sierra Mists, or my beloved Caffeine-Free Pepsi. Ya'll, this one is going to be pretty hard for me, but I can't imagine it being any worse than giving up caffeine. I had a headache for three weeks then.

In other news...
We are loving on George a lot.
Potty-training is for young moms.
School is going well today.
I have already done two loads of laundry and have two more to go.
Tonight is Heritage Girls, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. (I am so thankful they are all on the same night at the same place!)
Potty-training is not for the weak of heart or stomach.

  3. Hope the No Soda Challenge goes well! My dentist strongly suggested I give up sodas several years ago & I thought it would be terrible, but it wasn't at all; I have one every once in a while now, but they just don't have the same appeal that they used to.

  6. At the beginning of the year our church went on the Daniel Fast and the hardest thing I had to deal with was giving up my iced tea. I tried to drink just water, really, but gave up after a day and drank iced tea the entire time I was on the fast.

A few weeks ago, I started having some heart racing problems. The doctor said to drink ice water as much as possible. I've hardly had ANY iced tea since my heart racing problems. Love, love, love the water.

    Go figure.

Hope your soda free days are going okay. I feel for you!

  7. No soda...I totally need to do that...but I've never even considered it seriously. Wow that'd be so hard. AND while you're potty-training??? You are one brave woman.

  8. how's the no soda challenge coming along?! it's so worth it - you can do it! i've heard that if you don't drink soda for a year (i know, a year? that's a long time!) you'll shed 5 lbs. so, whenever i drink one i think, hmmm.... is it worth 5 lbs? unfortunately my answer is all too often, "yes." ooohhh, potty training... i'm not looking forward to that milestone. i mean, my budget is, but me, not so much.

  10. Mrs. Homemaker, if only it were 8 days. No, it is 8 weeks. But I hope to beat the craving forever.

  11. Found you from the comments section of PW today, and saw your wish. :-)

Are you adopting within the US or outside? We adopted from China 4 years ago, and we are now waiting (3 years) for our second daughter, who will also be from China.

BTW I've found that I don't crave soda at all any more. I started drinking Welches grape juice with ice, 1/3 water, and the rest juice. It's a good thirst quencher.

  12. I am ALMOST off of soda. I don't buy it here at the house anymore, mainly cause I'm a cheap son-of-a-gun...and iced tea is CHEAP! I still get it out once an a while.....

    Godspeed girl!
