Merry, Merry, Meatballs

Last night Abbie and I made a new recipe for supper. Merry, Merry Meatballs and they made my tummy very merry. So I thought I would share. I pretty much changed up the original recipe so I'm not even going to list it. I will just tell you what I did.

2 lbs ground beef
1 cup plain bread crumbs
2 eggs
salt and garlic salt to taste
Mix all these together and roll into meatballs. Yes, my hands had to touch raw meat which totally grosses me out, but I was trying to brave for Abbie.

Lay the meatballs in a glass pan and then mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, one can whole cranberry sauce, and one (12 oz) bottle chili sauce together. Pour over meatballs and bake at 325 for 1 1/2 hours. We had them with mashed potatoes and green beans.

The original recipe says it makes 5 dozen meatballs. Mine made about 25.
Which was just enough for us for supper and for Mark to have leftovers for lunch today.

Another day at home! Today I hope (with the kiddos help) to tackle the van, the fridge, and our living room. And school. And the garden is going to need weeding before Saturday. It is wonderful to have big boys who when you say, "Please go weed the tomatoes." they just go and weed the tomatoes!

  2. Sounds tasty! I make a left over portion each night for my Hubby too, I like knowing that I've sent a nice hearty lunch with him to work.

  5. Good job, Abby - even pushed your mama out of her comfort zone! Although, I have to admit, my hubbie mixes all of our "raw meat" which isn't often! It is a bit gross.
