Play

Mark and I believe in our children working. We believe the "entitlement mentality" that so many people (adults and children) have is wrecking havoc on people's lives. We were put here on earth to work. Even before The Fall there was work to do. Work is not bad, it is a good thing.

All that said, we also believe children should have time to play. And just be children. They will never have this time again. And they need down time. Along with responsibility should come a freedom to be children and to enjoy being a child. One of my greatest joys is to look out and see my children playing. Or just walking around the yard looking and exploring. How I wish I could get in their little brains and know what they are thinking.

Ladies, I don't know a lot about parenting. I am in the trenches with you. But one thing I DO know is this: Let your children play and be children. And then to work and be responsible for something. It is so important.

  1. Um, was that Abbie in that last picture? Because that is not the baby girl I remember! Where did the baby go and who put that little lady in her place???

  2. Well, I know tons about parenting (that was my sarcastic voice) and I second that.
    Work + play = a good day.

  3. I'm with you on that. Kids today are shuttled from one activity to the next and never know what it's like to just play and be. They also should help out and have certain chores to make them understand that things just don't "happen" and there is work involved in everything. Personally I would add one more thing: Children should learn to handle money and save up for things that are important to them. We know to many kids that get everything they want and never learn the value of saving up.

  4. Agreed! Children (and adults) should all do at least some work and some playing every day! :)
