I Went, I Saw, I Felt Sick...

I am happy to report I got through the High School Meeting last night without throwing up. Ya'll, I sat there and seriously thought I was going to be sick while I was listening to the info about credits, transcripts, course hours, blah, blah, blah....

You see, I don't do well with, um, change. I like our little school right now. Nobody tells me what I have to do and how to do it. Next year, it all changes.

But, I remember feeling the very same way when Tyler started Kindergarten. When I opened up his ABEKA flash cards I actually cried. I had no idea how I was going to teach someone to read while having a 4 year old and two year old in the house. I had no idea how to even teach someone to read period. But we did it and now I am the mom who tells all the sweet young scared moms, "You can do this. Just take one day at a time. Just do the next lesson in the book. Just say EXACTLY what the teacher's manual tells you to say." And by child #3, or 6, or whenever it hits you, you will realize, "Hey, this isn't that bad, I can do this."

So, I will do what I know to do on this day. That's all you can do.

My favorite quote from last night. "If you are scared to do what God has called you to do-just do it scared."

I would rather be scared with Him than without Him.

  1. I'm so thankful that I don't have to deal with the drama of school. We have enough drama in our homeschool ;)

  2. Stacie, this is homeschool! I went to a meeting to see about how to count things in high school so they can be put on a transcript properly. So far no "going to school" high school are in our plans.

  3. Trust me, high school just sounds intimidating, it totally is just a smoke screen!

Two of mine have graduated from homeschooling, the first has her master's in social work, the second is in her sophomore year at college pursuing entrance to a nursing program, all A's and 1 B. My third is a senior in high school and my only boy. And my fourth is in 10th grade. My baby, quiet sobs here, is in 5/6th grade.

This is what I have to say, if I can do it...anyone can do it!!!!

You go girl, just put on some gas masks and run through that smoke!

  4. Well, I wondered how it all sounded, Wendy. And now I know ... blah, blah, blah. :) Hysterical!

And, for the record, Wendy Clark, if you can grow your own food, can fruit, raise goats, nurse crazy hens and pregnant rabbits ... you can homeschool through high school!

    You amaze me!

  6. Thanks, Mama Hen. I needed that. Only lately it is less being scared than it is just tired and wondering whether they're really listening ...

Okay, just do it. Whether or not they're paying attention. I can do that.

  7. We just sent in our 1 page quarterly reports, and the cover group did the transcripts. THAT, my friend, is a big part of the reason I still use my Montgomery cover group=) (and all for $65 a year!)
