Freezer Cooking....

I didn't get very much done for the freezer this week.  I have been feeling like I am living in my van with all the comings and goings of my older children and this week was taken up with lots of schoolwork.  And laundry, and mopping, and a mad dash cleaning for the insurance lady who was supposed to come yesterday, but I found out it was next Thursday when she is coming.

This is what I did get done:

I diced and froze two quarts bags of onions.
I made about 20 breakfast burritos this morning and
I have two crockpots full of pearsauce.

When it is cooked I will bag it in quart bags and freeze them.  It will probably be about five quarts.

So not too much this week, but next week should be better.  I am planning on cutting okra Sunday afternoon and I will be freezing it next week.

Oh, does anyone know when a butternut squash is ready to be picked?  This is my first time to grow them and they look really pretty, but I don't know when they are "done".

Today I am linking up at Laura Williams' Musing.

  1. Mama Hen,

Butternut squash is ready when the stem and vine die back (turn brown).

Thank you for linking this up to the Carnival of Home Preserving!

  2. You are one busy beaver! Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi MaMaHen! I really don't know how you get everything done! Sounds like a lot to me! That pear sauce sounds really good! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!

  4. Okra in vegetable soup is SO GOOD!

  5. I found you through Carnival of Home Preserving and have bookmarked your page. I hope you will come over and link up to my Blog Fest:
