Good Morning Friday

Well, it is Friday. After a long week. Sometimes I wonder if I am cut out to be a homeschooling mom because my first thought is, "Friday, let's just cut school and watch P&P all day." Now, none of my children want to watch P&P (even a little bit) so it really just would be me watching it and the children would be left to their own devices and plans. Which may or may not involve setting the yard on fire or climbing a tree so high I have to call the fire department. Oh, and I don't even think I've told you about the time one of my children licked a poisonous industrial cleaning supply (couldn't read yet) and we got to ride in an ambulance to Children's Hospital. Fun times.

So, you just never know what the day will hold around here. So, I guess as a loving homeschooling mom I should just fill some hours up with their school and chores to maintain their safety. We are going to tackle that long division with fervor and Tyler is going to tackle his civics with great enthusiasm (I just know today is going to be the day!) and James will learn to read today and then they will all rise up and call me blessed and take me out to dinner. Yes?

After those hours of safe school and chores my Tyler is going to a Jr High ice skating party. Doesn't he know how this is killing me? This growing up thing. Actually, Tyler is a great kid and I am really looking forward to seeing what kind of man he is becoming. Not to say it will be all easy, but I love the kid so much and really do enjoy him. Then Matt is spending the night with Nana and Papaw and going to the Motorcycle Museum tomorrow. Matt is showing a new interest in cars and such so I know he will have fun. And tonight Abbie and FavCousin are having a spa night. Complete with face masks and I have been assigned to be the manicurist for the night. Abbie has also requested cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off and cucumber water. She says they need spa food. After they eat their sandwiches and drink their water (at least it is a cheap meal) they are going to watch a movie (yet to be determined). And then mean ole Aunt MamaHen will make them go to bed and they will bicker and fuss and end up in separate rooms. (Never fails). And in the morning they will all be happy again. They are pretty predictable that way. I love those girls and am so glad they get to grow up together. Mrs. Jennifer and I say we want to make them best friends since they are the ones who will be taking care of us when we are old.

I just wanted to clarify about the bathroom cleaning lady. I really wasn't making fun of her. I was amazed. Even though I don't know her I can tell from her blog she is a sister in Christ and I wish I hadn't said anything now. I'm pretty sure she would not come to my blog and post about my bathroom cleaning habits. Oh, I hope not. Now, I will never clean my bathroom in 53 steps, or even 20 steps, but I'm sure her bathroom is much lovelier and cleaner than mine will ever be.

Well, I'm off to wrangle my kiddos out of bed (they had a late night last night because Mark had a long meeting and didn't get home till very late) and then zones, school, and cucumber sandwiching making time!

I'll be back next Monday with a week of giveaways. I wish I could offer a week of big Amazon and CSN giveaways, but my humble little ones will have to do. These four children keep on requesting at least three meals a day and I have one who wants a fourth meal too.

  1. Let me know how I can add to Abbie & Fav Girl's fun. I will be needing someone - anyone - to take care of me when I'm old.

  2. My kiddoes clean our bathrooms, once a week, today as a matter of fact...It's Friday chore day! We do school 4 days a week, Friday's are for chores, errands and appointments. Oh, maybe a it's time for me to a chore post!

  3. Well, it may not be P&P, but you will still be thrilled - Schyler took notes on The Life of Laura Ingalls last night and has decided to bring it tonight so maybe you all can discuss it during facials.

  4. And to make you feel better - I don't think anyone thought you were making fun of the ultra-clean-bathroom-lady. We were mostly making fun of ourselves for suddenly feeling waaaaay inadequate.

  8. I completely enjoyed visiting your blog!! I actually stopped by to congratulate you for winning the free Expo ticket that Michelle Smith gave away on her blog. (I am over the Expo Squad for TOS.) While I was here, I started reading your posts, though, and I'm so glad I did! I'm signing up to follow your blog so I can be sure to visit again. :D

  9. this is so hilarious (except for the poison).... Even when you don't feel like home schooling, at least you're still doing it. I don't feel like working, home schooling or cleaning my bathroom, but i still do it anyway. My kids are better people because i invested the time. You can do it!! Party all weekend (but spend a little time getting organized for Monday) and you'll feel better.

  12. I don't even have 53 steps to cleaning my whole house :)
And I can't wait for my kids to help out with the cleaning, especially the bathroom!
